( so it turns )

out that a lot of people wanted to see harry potter, actually.

today was probably the busiest day i've worked at the cinema, and i worked 11 hours straight. when i got there to open the box office, there were already about 30 people there waiting to buy tickets. none of the tills had been put out, the computers and printers were all off, the barriers weren't out, the tv screens showing trailers were switched off and the film times weren't showing on the screens.

i had to go around trying to get as much stuff ready as i possibly could, which wasn't everything, and then start serving customers. of course, i only served a couple before they decided to take the system offline. leaving me stood there unable to serve for about 5 minutes. which is a very long time when you're waiting there with nothing else to do.

this happened about 6 or 7 times during the day.

it usually happens once every couple of weeks.

it was ridiculous, i ended up being signed onto about 3 different tills because of people moving around and people without any clue what they were doing. but that isn't really anyone's fault i guess. it's hard when the systems can't cope. i think we did pretty well as a cinema, great spend per head and a huge attendance, so rock on. i hope this place gets more customers, it's a good cinema, it deserves them.

however, i did get through it, i got paid an extra hour (at holiday rate) for doing well, so for that one shift alone i'm getting a full 24 hours pay. that's over half my usual paycheck (we get paid every 2 weeks).

i'm working again today, and i have an exam on thursday. so i guess today is revision half-day, and tomorrow is stresspanicarghcrap day. then the exam is breakdown day.

yay!
