( lost )

i seriously cannot describe how good this show is. i've watched the first two episodes now, and i'm hooked. hell, i was hooked from the first. this has pretty much everything that i love in these sorts of shows. mystery, dramatic openings.. okay, i went and created a spoiler css style so i could talk about this without.. spoiling things. people who haven't seen lost, i suggest you find a way to do so. for those who have watched at least the first two episodes, highlight to read. or if you don't care. either way.

warning! excitedness and plenty of capitals!
OKAY. so this tv show is pretty much amazing. the opening scenes where it starts off with jack waking up in the jungle, looking like it's another cast away with no-one around, tropical island in the middle of nowhere and then BAM. AIRPLANE WRECK. ohhhhh it's just a spectacular sight. and the best part is, THAT'S THE SET. this island, with a huge jungle, mountains, and all this wreckage. i love that. and OH MY GOD. THE MONSTER? there's something out there and i just love it already. i don't care whether people think it's king kong or something stupid. there is something huge and hidden in there. the longer it stays out of sight, the more excited/nervous i am going to get. just like the village. and, uh, the haunting (shut up). i mean, it PULLED THE PILOT OUT OF THE COCKPIT. i just keep imagining this huge lumbering thing that's a cross between a cave troll and the best videogame enemy ever. please, please don't let me down on this one.

AHHHHH. so yes. also, the girl is the criminal, but what did she do? why was she being escorted by a us marshall? and there was a POLAR BEAR. IN THE JUNGLE. all this stuff just screams "huge, really complicated and involved mystery" to me, and i love how everything seems so out of place. i just want to know what's going on but i'm having such an amazing time NOT HAVING A CLUE. and the radio message? someone has been on that island before, someone speaking in french about how she was left alone after "it" killed everyone else. someone was trapped, like they were. somone's message has been playing repeatedly for SIXTEEN YEARS. there's no way they're getting rescued. ever. maybe.

aahhhhh. so yes. i am excited. in fact, i think i'm going to go watch another episode. or should i? should i wait til tomorrow? get more excited?1

apologies for the long, hopefully mostly invisible post. but it's a while since something like this has come along, and i love it. i love a mystery i can't solve. i'm like the anti-johnathon creek.

1 no. i'm going to watch it now. besides, san andreas is tomorrow.

i watched the man with two brains last night. oh so so good. seriously. i can't remember the last time i'd seen a funny steve martin movie1. this one just kept cracking me up. i mean, look at these quotes!

Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr: Would you read that last bit back to me? I'm afraid it might make me sound pompous to your readers.
Journalist: 'My brilliant research in brain transplantation is unsurpassed, and will probably make my name live beyond eternity'.

Butler : Can I get you anything more, doctor? I'm about to retire.
Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr : Really? You seem so young.

Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr : What are they saying?
Dr. Conrad : They are just saying 'murmur, murmur, murmur.'
Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr : You mean it's just sort of a general murmur?
Dr. Conrad : Yeah. Murmur.
Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr : Oh.
[To the crowd]
Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr : You may *murmur* all you like.
Crowd: [distinctly] Murmur, murmur, murmur, murmur, murmur.

i love it. i'm a big fan of that style of comedy, more films should have paper-thin doors in condos made up to look like castle frankenstein laboratories. there are so many more great quotes in the film, you'll have to go watch it though.

in other news, i'm really looking forward to going away this new year, it should be a lot of fun! i only really got to the stage of not spending it with my family a couple of years ago, last year i went to my flatmate marcus' house i think2. another trip away will be good fun :) i'll probably talk about it closer to the time, but i've been looking around and planning things, looking at the london eye and places to stay down south, hopefully it'll all go swimmingly!

in the meantime though? i get to look forward to gta: san andreas. UH. i haven't been this excited about a game since, well, EVER3. it's sort of weird. i didn't really think much of the gta series at first, but a little while after vice city came out4 i went and got a copy. marcus and i ended up playing it to 100% completion too. it was so good. i know that after a while the excitement's going to die down, but i really can't wait to get my hands on SA. it's choc-full of extra rpg-esque stuff too, and cities that actually look like what they're supposed to be5. i can't help it. i am excited about a game. and that game comes out next friday. there isn't going to be much to tear me away from that one :)

1 roxanne, maybe? but even so, that's not a patch on this.
2 we played this weird reaction-time based electric shock game, that i remain undefeated at. marcus and gav, on the other hand recieved so many that by the end of it they didn't even feel it.
3 i've never wanted to buy a game on release day. i don't even think i got this excited about zelda or final fantasy, which are pretty much my two favourite series of game ever. i probably got their respective games close to the release though.
4 maybe only a couple of days, even
5 vice city is obviously miami, but i haven't got a clue what miami is like. i mean, i don't know any landmarks or anything. but how can i argue with the golden gate bridge sitting there? the tower records building? the las vegas strip? so so good.

   ( as a dog )

i think maybe i ate something that's disagreed with me, because i did not sleep last night. at all.

all night long i was tossing and turning trying to find a position where i didn't feel like i'd been punched in the stomach. it never came. i finally gave up on trying and got up to have a shower, where i almost threw up. go me! *sigh*

i'm debating taking the day off work, because i feel like my stomach is just bruised all over, and it hurts. i don't know what this is. ugh.

there's going to be a pillow fight club in manchester tomorrow, i'm thinking of going and blowing off some steam1. rock on. also, i am going to enjoy not having to go to work. not that i particularly dislike work or anything, i just have other things i like doing more2.

it's odd, but since having to go without internet for so long, i think i've discovered that i don't really need to be on it all the time. especially as i'm online at work all day. i pretty much run out of things to do. can't be a bad thing, i get to spend time offline. go me.

1 funny how hitting people with soft things can be good fun and relaxing, eh?
2 spending time with my flatmates, for one. i don't see them too often.

another day with nothing to do. this is sort of good, because i get paid to do very little, but it's really not setting me up for any kind of hard work later in life.

i need to get things sorted out for myself. i have ideas about what i'd like to do later in life, but sitting around isn't going to get me there.
