The router is going to be at the house soon. It better be.
Tonight? Napoleon Dynamite. It's the last showing and I'm not going to miss this one.
Other things of note: my redesigning isn't going too speedily. I have a couple of designs but I got stuck, so now I just have a giant picture of me that i'm debating using. I keep forgetting that I don't have my pixel art folder here, if I remember to check that when i get back I may come up with a few new ideas. The thing is, I keep looking at this one and thinking it's alright. Hey Mike, maybe you should just work on your writing! Hey inner monologue, shut up!
I'm debating buying a few new dvds this weekend. i realised that my bank balance is actually looking pretty healthy right now (Thank you not drinking or smoking! Not going out to clubs! Not really doing much of anything other than buying a lot of plane tickets!) so I may get myself something to entertain me. I feel like i've been sat around a lot recently, so at least i'll have something to do while I am.
I'm thinking about getting the new Lemon Jelly album, but all the tiny samples on Amazon make it sound like there's not a lot to them.
(FYI - you should take advantage of the free download for Lemon Jelly - The Staunton Lick. I really like it)
These days at work are just getting slower and slower. If I wasn't in a job that paid pretty well for me to sit around and use the internet all day, I'd be fairly miffed. As it is, I should probably be thankful for an office environment where I can get away with watching episodes of Lost and talking to my friends.
First off the bat, the Anchorman DVD commentary is a work of art. I'm just going to copy in here the highlights given at commentarydvd.com.
0:41..Ferrell and McKay wonder what they're allowed to say on the commentary and begin a truly magnificient string of vulgar obscenities, much of which is bleeped out. It lasts for over 15 minutes straight with virtually no discussion of the movie. There's so much more to this though, Paul Rudd calling in to insult Kyle and Andy, the scat-off between Will and Lou, Will being worried Lou would notice that there weren't any black people in the movie, and Adam saying he always thought that Paul Rudd was black, David Koechner selling shoes on the street.. it's just incredible. They must mention the movie about three times.
15:23..Adam McKay talks about his sexual experimentation with men, including with an NBA power forward whose name gets bleeped out.
17:36..Andy Richter and Kyle Gass come in and complain about not getting a part in the film.
23:37..Kyle Gass: "Is that the chick from Married With Children? She's hot. Did you get in on some of that?" This sparks an entertaining fake fistfight.
28:42..McKay: "Less than eight drinks, don't drive your car. More than eight, drive so far."
31:37.."Hello, I'm Lou Rawls and I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing here."
46:31..McKay: "I'd say without exaggeration there were six applause breaks in this movie just because of how beautiful something was shot."
1:15:07..Adam McKay says he enjoys doing crystal meth and listening the 'Men at Work' DVD commentary.
just pootling around the internet as usual, and my eyes espy this:

so here starts another day at work, made slightly more bearable by having the life aquatic's soundtrack to listen to and, after my dad played it for me in the car on the way back to my flat yesterday, rufus wainwright's "oh what a world".
things that happened over the weekend that I said would happen that didn't actually happen:
· have a hot meal,
· grab my dvds.
this of course means that i am still offline as of now, but this may change pretty soon. the cheap router my flatmate john spotted may be in stock now, which means at least 1 week of guaranteed internet access before it inevitably breaks.
i did manage to catch the latest two episodes of lost though, thankfully. let me re-iterate. mmmm. yes. i love lost. it's slipped from my mind a little recently what with new episodes not being broadcast and my internet not working leaving me not being able to view it if they were. also, when i saw it in america (which was, admittedly, nice) it was a slightly less intrigue-filled episode. these last two have been right back up there. especially with the return of not one, but three question-inducing elements. eeeee.
buying a new mobile phone is ridiculous, it seems like it's stupidly expensive to buy good phones that aren't on a contract. then again, if i went onto a contract i'd end up spending a lot more over the year. ho hum.
we have a dartboard in the house now. it's great. that's pretty much all the news i have.
so i did end up going out for a drink with the guys last night, but i don't really like going to pubs too much when they're hugely busy. also i end up smelling of smoke. it's not good. i only stayed for one drink, talked for a while, then headed for home. doxy was supposed to be headed back with me, but he's way too easily convinced to stay at pubs and drink when he has work the next morning.
tonight? a curry meal with about 13 people for martin's birthday. the other guys started talking about having a houseparty afterwards. more specifically, they started talking about drinking before the meal, drinking after the meal, then having a house party afterwards.
great. i'm not a fan of drunken people making a lot of noise. especially when i don't know half of them. i don't know if it's going to go ahead, but if it does i'm going to be the only sober one there. marcus is bad enough when he's just being weird, when he has a few pints down him then he just loses restraint. wheee!
this weekend i am going to:
· cancel my mobile phone contract update: i actually did at work after everyone left.
· get a router (i hope)
· grab my dvds and whatnot that was left behind before i went away
· have a hot meal
i realised yesterday that i hadn't had a hot meal in a couple of days. i know, it's bad. i'm getting sick too, so i made up some soup, i finally remembered to get vitamin c tablets, and i sneezed a lot.
i also added a bunch more photos to flickr today, so go take a look.
so i'm back at work, it's post-new year and buffy is back in the states.
i've thought a little about starting this site up again, and i think i'll give it a shot. i'm going to redesign1 and then start talking about stuff that i'm doing again.
i spend about 7.5 hours at work every day and do about 1.5 hours of actual work. i busy myself by floating around the internet, and by checking my mail, livejournal and flickr constantly, though little changes. Being able to make some sort of online impact would probably counteract the ever-approaching boredom.
i downloaded an audio book of the davinci code, because i figured everyone else in the world has read it. a couple of months back i suddenly realised that i could do this, as well as get music, and so i downloaded about five or six books. i like written text, especially with something like the davinci code, because i can flick through them and go back to try and work stuff out. but with an audio book i can set up my ipod to play them for a while as i go to bed and fall asleep listening to them. it'll hopefully leave me sleeping earlier, seeing as i have to wake up early in the morning again. i think i'm up to chapter 72, or somewhere near. it's fairly good so far, but dramatic car escapes don't really work in spoken word. or text, i guess.
yesterday after work was pretty slow. it's my flatmate martin's birthday today, and he made that well known. we're off out for a curry on friday night, this time i'll stick to a milder curry. i swear that restaurants here make them hotter because the british want it incredibly spicy. buffy and i found that out the hard way. still, the naan was okay. and that yoghurty drink was curiously addictive. it got better the more i drank of it, for some reason.
i ate the last of the fruity pebbles i bought in america. it was a sad day. i'll buy a bigger box next time. i guess buffy ate half, but that's okay. it was probably the only joy she had over here2
oh yeah, i should also mention that the new beck album is pretty awesome. everyone should buy the finished thing when it comes out. and also buy beck a cup of tea.
my plans for tonight? maybe go to the cinema to watch napoleon dynamite, wish martin a happy birthday, maybe a quick trip to the pub with the guys. who knows? expect a thrilling account tomorrow!
1 man, in the old days i loved to redesign. at one point i think i had four or five going at a time. i have a couple of ideas now though. i'll scope out the inter-web for ideas.
2 "jay kay!"
