So while I would delight in retorting to Matt Garber's taunts for a jesting jousting I appear to have left my Gentleman's Dictionary of Over-Verbosity at home. Shame. Compadre, you'll have to do better than that if you're going to cause me to respond in kind!
Oh. Wait.
So! The day after the day after tomorrow I'm going to America again. A few years back (I guess before 2002) if you'd ask me whether I'd be visiting the states multiple times a year, I'd think it was an odd question. If you asked me now, I wouldn't be able to answer. Because I'd be visiting the states multiple times a year.
Now my patented List Of Things That Have Happened Recently™:
· I have been playing Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater1 and it's actually pretty good. I'm only playing through on easy mode though, because I am actually trying to enjoy the game, rather than worry that my Woodland camoflague doesn't offer me the same sort of cover as my Splitter camo. So far? Many, many hours of dialogue. It's still fun though.
· Did you know that the guy who does the voice of Snake in the games is the same guy who wrote the screenplay for X-men and X-men 2? I think i recognised the name when I saw the movies. That isn't really something that's happened recently, but I thought i'd mention it because it's my website, and you can't stop me. There. That's a few seconds I took you can't get back.
· I guess I posted yesterday, so all that really happened was that I found a way to convert the 200+ mp3s each that compose the Dan Brown audiobooks I have into single, 16 hour bookmarkable audiobook files, that save the position I'm at within the file (good) and mean instead of those 400-odd files I have two. This is nice. I'm also getting Deception Point to listen to on the plane in case I finish Digital Fortress (which I actually have in paperback) before then.
· those last two points were so long I probably shouldn't have made this list. Especially as one of them wasn't really a point I should have made, and neither is this.
Talking to Doug only serves to get both of us incredibly pumped about this trip. SO GOOD.
More tomorrow, if Matt can face up to the proverbial gauntlet. I agree in theory, so long as neither of us hit a nerve then the desire not to be bested should keep us both posting. Don't let me down, Garber.
1 I wish that game didn't sound so much like a bad porno.
Oh yeah, this thing exists. It's funny how I berate people for not posting, then go back to neglecting my own website. At least mine doesn't remove all the posts from the front page after a certain length of time, Matt.
So this next week? Going to be amazing. I'm totally going to be having the best time ever. I love going away to see Buffy, and it'll be nice this time because there's not so much rushing around and having to get things done. This time we'll have a lot of time to just kick back and relax. And Doug is crashing the party1 so it'll be twice as nice. Yes indeedy.
Things have been pretty same-as recently. I had a cold for a while, but it's pretty much gone now. I've been attempting to find stuff to pass the time2 to varying degrees of success, and I've been making lots of international phonecalls3. The cold thing wasn't so great, but the rest of it was good. But now I just have to find some way of speeding up the next few days. And not getting sick again.
Yesterday was mother's day, which was pretty nice. I went back home, and we as a family went off to Harry Ramsden's. Tasty food for all! I'm not a big eater, as many will tell you, but I enjoyed it. I also came back with about 40 sugarcubes in packets that I grabbed from the table. I have no idea what I'll use them for, but if you were to suggest building a miniature Stonehenge, then I would tell you that it was done and done.
1 In the "you are invited to the party" type of party-crashing, anyway.
2 Examples: catching up on the third and fourth seasons of Scrubs, spending about 4 days downloading Twin Peaks so I can see if it's as good as Swift waving his arms around and giving multiple thumbs-ups suggest it to be.
3 Yay for Go Mad For Bananas phonecards!
